Explore our Volunteer Roles:

This volunteer role is ideal for individuals who possess strong organizational and multitasking skills, along with proficiency in computer operations. While computer skills are beneficial for most positions, some roles mandate them. If you prefer a predictable routine with limited interaction with the public, a “Behind the  Scenes” position may be a good fit for you. Volunteer opportunities in this category primarily involve monthly newsletter and stakeholder communication tasks.

If you have experience in food service, enjoy following instructions, and possess a positive and cheerful attitude, this volunteer position is ideal for you. As a guest-facing volunteer, this role presents opportunities to connect with our guests, recognize them, and make them feel welcomed and loved. Familiarity with food service best practices and special dietary recommendations is beneficial.

If you are someone who thrives in action-oriented environments and can adapt quickly to changing situations, a warehouse distribution position may be a great fit for you. This volunteer role may require you to work flexible hours on short notice, maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with kitchen staff, perform physical labor, and organize/stock warehouse shelves. Additionally, the position may involve tasks such as picking up restaurant and grocery donations, custodial work, facility maintenance, and preventative maintenance projects.

This volunteer position could be the perfect fit for you if you possess excellent communication skills, are empathetic, resourceful, and comfortable working with diverse groups of people. As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include greeting guests, managing their expectations, and providing problem-solving assistance. This role may require both one-on-one interaction and administrative work. While prior experience in casework, case management, customer service, or counseling may be beneficial, it is not a requirement for every position.

At Loaves & Fishes, we interact with the public through various means, such as community events, local media, advertising, public relations, and social media. These communication tasks are crucial to maintain our organizational commitment to transparency, as well as to attract and motivate financial donors, food donors, and volunteers. If you possess excellent interpersonal skills, are outgoing, empathetic, and self-motivated, we encourage you to consider these volunteer positions. We also welcome volunteers with specialized skills, including photography, videography, event planning, or social media. While a background in public relations, marketing, advertising, social media, or similar fields is helpful, it is not a requirement.

If you possess excellent attention to detail, research skills, or enjoy data analytics, a financial volunteer position could be a great fit for you. While some roles may require interacting with the public, such as handling donations at special events, most positions are more behind-the-scenes at Loaves & Fishes facilities or from your home. Computer skills are beneficial for all roles and mandatory for some.

Alternatively, if you prefer a more people-oriented role, especially if you have sales or customer service experience, consider a fundraising position. In this role, you will interact directly with our donors, whether soliciting contributions or following up to express gratitude. Good communication skills, an outgoing personality, and a thick skin are essential qualities to excel in this volunteer position.
